Atik 314L + Skywatcher .85 Reducer

Having just purchased an Aitk 314L + , I need some advice on the spacing , attached is a photo of the reducer and a Baader verilock  with the 314 .I understand the spacing needs to be 55mm, but at which points do I measure from A or B or have I completely misread the info given

Your start point looks correct i.e. just on the thread behind the reducer but the 55mm is from there to the surface of the chip.

To be honest from my own personal experience I've found the spacing accuracy to not be that critical on the smaller chipped 314. 

I think I'm 17mm out on my 16HR (same chip) and it's still fine.

I think the 314 has a chip to thread distance of 12mm so if you measure distance A and its 43mm your bang on (43+12=55)

Its 55mm from the sensor to the rear edge of the flattener.

The sensor is 13.5mm inside the front of the camera.

So 55mm - 13.5mm = 41.5mm from the front of the camera to the rear edge of the adapter.

Brilliant , now the question , why 55mm

You might need to take the nosepiece off and screw the Baader Varilock directly into the camera to get the correct spacing.

That can't be right can it the verilock is 30mm fully retracted

I think that the flattener produces a flat image at 55mm behind it ie on the sensor - any further in front or behind wont be as flat.

The figures I have put are what you are aiming for not necessarily what you have got - I cant tell what you have actually got from the photo!!!

The nose piece has been removed the black part of the camera houses the chip

In your original photo the A measurement should be 41.5mm
