Aldi telescope

It's defenitely the best of the bunch looking at the first few images on Google.

I followed the link to the pic posted. Then used the 'Visit page' button. The telescope was owned by one Eric Jamison. It's a TMB 175mm f/8 refractor.

Is this what a Dobsonian refractor is? Or is this just a refractor with a Dobsonian style mount on a tripod? I am getting very confused here as this is the first time I have ever come across such a hybrid!

Yes but the DIY one will fill some of those rainy winter nights when you cannot get out.  Also good way of using up some of that scrap wood laying about.
