M45 during a challenging night with the perfect weather

This is my effort from last night. 1 hour and 42 minutes with a canon 450D and the ED80. All 6 minute subs. I had planned 6 hours of continuous imaging but the HEQ5 Pro started acting up again. There comes to a point where a clunk noise comes from the mount and the tracking is lost. Is this slack in the gears? Not sure how to fix it, I'm afraid. Any suggestions or web links to places where this is discussed would be appreciated.

Sorry to say I cant help you on the clunking noise . i hope you dont mind , but i had a play with your Picture as you had some gradient in there but also some good stuff in there also !
