127 Mak Tripod

Recommended Posts

Hello again...

I have a 127 Mak on a very dodgey mount at the moment. It is a bit like the 130p Heritage mount but with a few add ons.

I really need to get a tripod, but I am not sure what one to get.

I can't afford to spend lots of money on one, and need one that can be collapsed for storage in the corner of a room when the telescope isnt attached.

I image with my telescope, but only with a webcam and only very basic images.

Can anyone give me any advice on what I should look for/buy?

Thanks

I use one of these fitted with the polar scope and single motor for RA.

I picked it up on UKABS for £110 and I find it great for both visual and planetary/solar/lunar imaging. I'm sure you can find a similar bargain.

It's light... so portable, which in my book makes it attractive.

Just the job for a 127.

I'd be tempted to take the AZ4 over the EQ3-2 for visual personally, but I used my 127 Mak on an EQ3-2 for planetary/solar system imaging very happily for some time and it will quite probably end up going back onto it at some point.
