markenroj
was out looking at saturn with my son last night. i tried my new 6.5mm plossl and 2x barlow but the image looked like my eyepiece was steamed up.is saturn better viewed higher up in the sky? or am i using to much magnification ? Kai
The higher from the Horizon the better , so overhead is best. Also 6.5 barlowed maybe asking too much unless the seeing conditions are excellent.
beamish
You might have been pushing your luck a bit with that mag last night. Saturn was dancing about in my ep and webcam. I thought the skies were a bit deceiving, certainly looked like it ought to have been better when I first stepped out.Karlo
Ant
The higher in the sky the better - as you're looking through less atmosphere! Your 6.5mm with 2 x barlow gives a magnification of 200, which is IMO towards the upper end of the scopes capabilities. But with good seeing it should be possible.Ant
