oldnut
evening all, my wife got me a nice flight case for my b day. its foam is made of semicut 1 cm squares, do I just pull them out to give a rough shape or pull out enough to make a hole that will be a tight fit? Floater
Aha! The dilemma! Some would have you pull out just enough, others would have you pull it all out square by square, others would have you half the depth and return it, others would have you cut into the squares. There is a thread, Show Me Your Eyepiece Case, which is longer than long. But have a look - and have fun. Then take a pic and show us. Aw go on ...
L8-Nite
Even though I have "pluck foam" in my cases, I "cut" holes for eyepieces with empty aerosol cans of the correct diameter that have had the heads cut off with a hacksaw, and the inside edge sharpened with a couple of strokes from a file. I simply twist the cutter back and forth while gently pressing down. The side wall of aerosol cans are wafer thin and cut like a razor; it works great. Here are a couple of photos. MattGoo
Great idea. Might have to get some foam for my case to stop them all rattling around.
