EQ2 wide field

Hi all. On the look out for my next step from a fixed tripod, still wanting to do wide field camera-only but looking at tracking and experimenting with longer focal lengths up to 300mm. Wondering if an eq2 would be ok for it. Not planning on using it for anything more than this set-up. What do you guys think?

AP with Camera/lens on the EQ2 can be done but the problem is it is difficult to polar align accurately without a polarscope so expect exposure time to be low around 30s however with a 18mm FL lens you could do a couple of minutes..

The EQ3-2 is better but not a massive leap forward but will be more stable and allow for around 2 mins max at 300mm.

can i borrow this topic to make a question about equatorial mount? ithink it can be of help to the OP too.
would an equatorial mount, let's say an eq3-2, without motors be able to do more than 30s exposures with no traililing by just polar aligning it?

The mount needs to be polar alligned and have at least one motor on the RA axis to be able to track the movement of a star across the sky.
