90mm cnc rings on wo gt81

Some help please.

Recently got a wo gt81 with 90mm cnc rings and plate. Am I being silly here or is there little to no room to put one ring in between the focus knob and the screw that stops the end part of scope rotating. The golden bar that goes around the scope seems to be in the way ( see pics). Not much room.

Also is it solely the massive knobs on side of the rings which need tightened to hold the scope firm?

Or am I better having dew shield permanently extended? Seems a bit silly doing that though.

Can't you push the dew shield out and put them both after the gold band?

Yes but I was hoping of never taking it off the rings and storing with them on. Didn't want to have shield extended permanently but don't think much choice as not happy as it is. I've seen some pics with gold bar removed but not obvious how to do that. Am I right in saying just the big knows to hold scope firm?

yes just the big knobs hold it firm. Not much room on there and i agree not the best solution, have a look at moving the gold band i have also seen some pics of this done and would solve the issue.

If it's got a foot you can bolt a dovetail bar to that rather than using rings.

Are you wanting to piggy back a guidescope?

Yes will be on other side of rings

If the rings don't fit with the dewshield extended, it's looking like a side by side setup rather than piggy back is your best bet.
