cotterless45
Those who have been observing in very dark skies will know M33 and it's spiral structure and the thrill of spotting it by eye , hurrah !There are a few doubles clustered here, this morning it was rising in the north east and I caught,Σ219 (at 02h 10.3m. +33 22' ) giving at x50 a bright pair in a good field.Iota Trianguli , lovely colours of this binary ( at 02h 12.4m. +30 18') at x150 next to Σ232 a near equal bright pair. Then on toΣ239 set in a lovely field ( at 02h 17.4m. +28 45') at x50.Σ246 a lovely delicate pair ( at 02h 18.7m. +34 29') at x100. A challengingΣ269 with 1.6" separation, nicely seen (at 02h 28.2m. +29 52').15 Trianguli gave a lovely view with two facing parallel pairs of different brightness.Σ285 (at 02h 38.8m. +33 25') gave a transient delicate split at 1.8".I couldn't get ε Trianguli, the secondary being 11.4 mag. in an area at present quite low and bright.A really stunning night with darkening skies, hurrah ! Clear skies! Nick.
philj
Great stuff Nick, glad you had a good night and spotted m33 by eye, never done it myself even from Kelling, thats probably down to my eyesight though. 10x50s m33 is a doddle from home, (tother side of burton from swad).Ive yet to tackle doubles in triangulum, I may reserve that for Kelling and the f15 later this year
