CG-5 polar scope

Just noticed that my new CG-5 has a built-in polar scope. Nice!

The pattern etched into the glass is similar to that below. I assume that polaris is supposed to be placed on the circle (as its not exactly at the pole), in the general direction of Cassiopeia?

Get yourself Polarfinder downloaded and you will find Polar Alignment a doddle.

All you do is set your location and time and Polarfinder will show you where Polaris should be on that circle.Its then just a matter of moving your mount to match and hey Bingo.You can also print off the screen to be able to match off outside.

Takes me about 30 secs to adjust.

Daz - yep, no other marks on it at all. I've seen diagrams of other polar scopes with Cassiopeia and Ursa Major on them, but not this one!
