July 5, 2014: Lovely proms on eastern limb

Just had a look before breakfast, and several nice proms are visible on the eastern limb. One is particularly impressive. It looks like a huge network of thin threads, or a foam-like structure cut in half. Big but not with high surface brightness, it looked best at comparatively low magnification. The surface is still riddled with sunspots, filaments and plage. Well worth a look.
