My first Flame and Horsehead

I decided to have a stab at the Horse Head and Flame nebulae despite the fact that my Canon 400d has not been modded. The data was taken on Sunday and Monday night with the transparency being a bit poor on Monday. Not in the same league as others but still an image for the record.

Taken With : Canon 400D fitted to a Antares 80mm Fluorite APO with 0.8x focal reducer.

Guided by : Bresser R102 and Meade DSI-C CCD using Shoestring Guider and PHD software.

Mount: Orion Sirius EQG

Image Data: 16x10mins Light Frames, 5*10min Dark Frames, ISO 1600

Processed with: Stacked and ASin curves level & saturation applied in DSS, final tweak in PSCS with Noels Actions.

For an unmodded Canon, there is a lot of the red stuff in it

Nice detail and colour.

This shot would benift from some flats, go on you know you want to.

Everything's there, good framing, focus etc....get some flats and it'll leap out at you

Yep, I must agree there is some vignetting and a few dust doughnuts. I will need to build myself a light box and get some flats done.

Re. flats,

Here's what I made for the princeley sum of £14 just before Christmas.

It took half an hour with a jigsaw and a drill....ply from B&Q, white LED christmas lights from Wilkos.

I got a projector screen from freecycle for nothing and hang it in front of the scope.

Works a treat
