drift alignment question(?)

Hi folks:

The other night I did a drift alignment....got it pretty close.  I noticed though, while tracking a star in the south near meridian my scope reached a point where it did not want to go any further.  Should I do a meridian flip with the scope and track again to tweak the drift better?
