May 12, 2014 Curious triple arc on eastern limb

Recommended Posts

Just had a short glimpse at the sun. The first to catch my eye was all the detail around the ARs near the centre of the disk. Northwards on the eastern limb two short, bright proms showed up, and far south a ghostly straight prom showed. In between I spotted a fairly bright, but quite compact double arc. As I changed the tuning a bit, I noticed a third, low, but much wider arc outside this pair, making it a double arc within a larger one. I got the impression that the two smaller, brighter arcs were closer to me, just on this side of the limb, and the larger (fairly flat) arc was just the top section of something lurking just beyond the limb. Never seen such a curiously concentric configuration of arcs.

Again just a short glimpse, but it certainlyputs a smile on my face

Hope to get some more views later
