Skywather 150P on Skywatcher SupaTrak mount

Recommended Posts

Does anyone know whether the above would work - is the mount adequate for the OTA?

I emphasise the word adequate, I appreciate it is not the world's best mount - at the moment it just needs to work ok, take the weight etc and when funds allow will upgrade to something decent.

Thanks for your help

Reading everything there is a fair chance that it might.

FLO says: SupaTrak Heavy-Duty Motorised Multi-Speed Auto-Tracking Alt-Azimuth Mount

As if it is more then capable of the 130P

In the general blurb about the mount they also say:

The new SupaTrak™ mount shares more than a passing resemblance to the Celestron SLT, but the somewhat quieter and heavier duty SupaTrak sports a more robust Vixen-style dovetail clamp…

As the SLT takes a 130 as standard one could surmise that the SW Supatrak will take a bit more.

You may need tube rings and a dovetail to make the attachment, so that adds a bit and good balance would be required. Will say that if you start adding cameras etc then you are likely going to overload it.

Sort of boarder line. Get a well balanced coin: Heads go for it, Tails wait get a heavier mount.
