Welcome to SGL. I will be in Malta at the end of June (again - every year for holidays, love it over there).

Is there an Astro club in Malta ? You must have pretty good dark skies as well.

Dave I have seen Trevor on TV, it's nice to hear that there are active members here that have a relation to Malta since it is a small country

Kebabologist, there are a few clubs here in Malta, but since I am new to this activity I have not engaged myself in any. A quick google search brings them up, I might contact one of them and become active.

We have clear skies especially in the dry season, but we suffer from high humidity since everywhere is close to the coast, especially when hot wind from Africa crosses the Mediterranean and carries water vapour. But overall I cannot complain, because even though Malta is small area there are many remote places with little light pollution, particularly in the less populated sister island of Gozo
