ISS 15/4/2014 second try

Recommended Posts

After a disastrous first attempt at the ISS, I gave it another go last night.

This time I watched the Astronomy Shed video before trying.

I used my 8" Skywatcher and the Canon 60D set at 1/1000 sec and 1000ASA.

Camera was triggered with a homemade remote switch.

Carefully aligned on a bright star to get the red dot finder aligned and the camera focused.

Hand guiding wasn't as difficult as I thought. Certainly not as difficult as using the motor controls!

I took 57 frames, of which 40 had something in the frame. Well you get trigger happy, don't you.

Ok the ISS is very small in the frame but I was really chuffed at the result.

I am wondering if there is any mileage in stacking several frames. Perhaps some clear person can advise me.

Worth a go people.

cheers

gaj
