False supernovas

In a recent thread the false Supernova in M108 was mentioned.

ACEY noted we should have a list to save us reporting a supernova which is a star in the Milky Way.

So I had a look and I can find reference to involved stars in the following galaxies...

NGC 23 /147/741/891/1297/1491/2223/3344/3705/4013/4540/4781/4783/4795/5072/5147/7080

And

M51 M49 M88 M106 and even good old M31.

So beware? Or enjoy the conjunction of a milky way star and a galaxy.

Mark
