what's the difference

Hi could anyone tell me (if there is one) what is the difference between a teleextender lens & a barlow lens

A tele-extender is for eyepiece projection imaging and a barlow is for magnifying the image.

If by Tele extender you mean things like the Tele Vue Powermate, Meade TeleXtender, Explore Scientific Focal Extender etc, then the main difference, for visual use anyway, is that the tele extenders leave the focal point and the eye relief more or less where it was with the eyepiece originally whereas a barlow moves both of those.

Both can be used for visual and imaging and the good quality ones of each type can work very well.

thank you for the replies, the thing i have is 3x opticstar tele extender & a 2x barlow with camera thread (bought this because i didnt have enough inward focusing)
