The Discovery of the Higgs Boson

If you fancy testing out your study skills for a couple of hours a week for seven weeks you may find this free online course presented by the University of Edinburgh via the FutureLearn initiative interesting.

The course started by suggesting that it is the Higgs boson which is responsible for slowing the Sun's 'burning' of hydrogen which means it still bathes the Earth in sustaining light and warmth after 4.8 Billion years.

So far it's testing recollections of A level and undergraduate mathematics and physics in deriving laws of conservation of momentum and energy from Newton's Laws of Motion. Good for the grey cells!
