adobe pain!

Hi ive recently upgraded my canon camera to 1000D and use to use the 350D, im using adobe photoshop elements 5........while I have no probs using the 350D in RAW mode and uploading to elements, the newer camera wont accept the RAW images from the 1000D, by what I gather I will have to upgrade elements to a newer version for the files in RAW to open, is this true?? Its a pain as im on  a budget and don't really wanna shell out more money to pesky adobe! Alternatively is there any other cheap/free software out there that would do "layers" which I use a lot with elements..........

just downloading now............cant see any supported formats for RAW though??? on the site.

You need to update adobe camera raw. Its a free photoshop plugin from adobe and has all the raw drivers for cameras. Elements 5 is old school so wont have upto date raw support.
