SN in m82 27/01/14

Hi

Tried the SN in m82 again tonight in between clouds, stack of 4x 5mins, calibration took some doing as my neon lamp kept playing up

This is a shot through the Lodestar mounted on the Alpy guide module. Could never get to grips with PHD but after tweaking its working perfectly now!

OOps!!

Well I thought something didn`t quite ring true with that profile . I changed software last night from Astroart back to Artemis for the main ccd and it turns out that both my Neon reference spectrum and the SN spectrum were 180degs out ?? so a quick horizontal flip and recalibration and now I`ve got this -

which seems much better and looks a bit more like the higher res spectra!

Haven`t a clue why the spectra would be flipped? but lesson learned

The latest AA5 CCD driver (5.3) now includes a slit guiding option!! Paolo and I worked with Fabio to make this happen.

Also user feedback shows the PHD2 may be better for us.....

Thanks Ken I`ll check that new driver out!. I`ve tried PHD2 before and had no luck with it but PHD is working like a dream at the moment, better than AA5 and the Maxim I trialled ;-)
