Scope for a beginner.

Recommended Posts

For planetary imaging you will need an EQ mount with motor drives/tracking, maksutov telescopes are considered very good for planet work, the 127 skymax gets superb results with out breaking the bank, for a frac think TAL100rs or if your budget can stand it, the skywatcher evostar 100ED

HI, as Jules states the TAL is an awesome scope....though they are becoming very difficult to get hold of. (and seen by a lot of people as 'keepers'). FLO no longer stock them, and other sites seem to be running down stock. Bit of a shame, though they will become collectors items. Not sure what will become of us TAL owners.....bit of a dying breed.

Have a trip over to the imaging section of the forum and have a mooch around. the Mount is key....HEQ5 seems to be a minimum..and use of webcam is seen as the ideal start....though people do use DSLR's... imaging can take up a lot of spare (and not so spare) cash...be warned ;-) good luck.
