Focus knob removal on SkyWatcher 130P

Hi Guys,

Planning a DIY electric focuser for my newly aquired SkyWatcher 130P.  Can anyone advise how the focus knobs are fitted?  There are no grub screws as far as I can see so they must be either pressed on  or screwed on.  I don't wish to do anything non reversable if possible so I have not applied too much force trying either option as yet.

they screw off if i can remember correctly, they take a bit of force to come off

If it is anything like mine (Evostar 120), grab hold of both handles and twist both hands anticlockwise. Takes a bit of force as there is threadlock on it, but it should unscrew.

Mine screwed off but were very tightly fitted. . I actually took the focuser apart and gripped the bar in a vice in the end to avoid damaging anything as there is certainly thread lock on the Skywatchers as well.

Don't know if your focuser is like this but on some focusers with an inset dimpled rubber grip around the knobs, the rubber grip is a band that is lightly glued to the knob and can be peeled back to reveal grub screws.
