Gorgeous Moon and Venus this evening, 2nd Jan 2014

A lovely sunset this evening. I captured this with my Canon 700d and 70-300 zoom, set at around 135mm

Even with that focal length, a crop of the image just about shows Venus's phase:

Amazing that you can see the phase of Venus with a simple DSLR and telephoto lens.

That's excellent, Luke.  Really nice to catch the Earthshine so well.  I've found it ridiculously easy to blow the lit crescent when I attempt it myself.

That is a superb image and the foreground trees and cloud add to the overall effect - nicely exposed as well - very good!
