Sirius first light!

You can now go for much fainter objects compared with the SA100.

Hi John,

Are you finding that?  I don't find a big difference in limiting magnitude. From my reasonably dark sky site they both seem to run out around the same region, say ~mag 15. The slit ALPY would go fainter than the SA in light polluted skies though.  Straightforward  background subtraction and not having to avoid interference from other stars  are big pluses with the ALPY on faint targets though of course.

Cheers

Robin
