Christmas Day sunshine

Remarkably the sun is shining here (near Radcliffe on Trent), and I have just had a nice little session with the 76 and Herschel Wedge.

There are some nice active regions around, and the seeing was quite good with a fair amount of granulation visible. Played around with ep's, 10 and 8mm Delos, 5 and 7mm XW and 6mm Radian. The 7mm was looking very nice, although I settled at 8mm as best balance between magnification and sharpness ie x60.

With the top polarizing filter, I was getting what looked like CA around the AR's, probably atmospheric due to the low altitude. Through the Continuum things were sharper and the faculae better defined although the granulation was not as clear.

All in all, a very jolly and relaxed session. Lunch is about to be served so I shall sign off now :-)

Happy Christmas all.
