Venus

Today I decided spontaneously to capture Venus.  With the little 80/480 APO + 2.5x barlow and DMK21. It is a RGB:

great! venus is so close at the moment and i wonder why everybody is only targeting jupiter. venus is such a great target

Hi,

I didn't realise it is such a thin crescent at the moment, very nice capture.  I am not sure if it is visble from my back garden, it is quite low to the south west I think?

yes, look at south-west as soon as the sun sets. its not too low. actually its quite high for venus

and its diameter is more than 50 arc seconds. thats more than jupiter at the moment! and it will get even larger in the next 7 days... up to 60 arc seconds, but it will also get lower and lower to the horizon...

i have no motor drive and as you can see the sope was also not polar aligned

Not bad at all! I don't think you can do much better than that (without a UV-pass filter)!
