mucky night

Poor seeing made tonight a challenge, moon didn't help either, just come in and spent a couple of hours on Jupiter, watched Calisto's transit and Ganymede shadow, and Europa poke its head out from behind the disk (all at 215x), detail on Jupiter was poor tonight but a pleasant few hours anyway. Finished with bodes , orion and beehive then afew doubles but again poor conditions played havoc.

Had a very frustrating night. Packed in at 1. Not even doubles would split. Jupiter was like a fruit on a fuzzy tree. Usually with a keen frost we get keen seeing. Tried everything , even the hair drier.

Then got up at 6 and a beautiful sky , right down to Spica in the low east . Leo riding very high dragging Mars up followed by Porrima in Virgo and the glittering Coma Bernices above .

Now determined to sleep early and get up early to catch these spring galaxies early,

Nick.
