Just been out and.....

Took a few test photos and came across a red blob in the photo can anyone tell me what this is ?

Roughly what direction where you looking when this was taken?

Was looking west when the photo was taken hope this helps

Yes, you were looking west between Hercules and Aquila.  I can't see anything on the sky chart that would account for a red blob.

Interesting hope everyone can see it as its definitely there took 4 or 5 shots too make sure

Having identified that parallelogram asterism above center as 95, 96, 101 and 102 Herc. I can't find anything in Stellarium that identifies the smudge.

My guess is a bit of lens flare or other such artifact  or cumulus cloud illuminated by light pollution.

It could be something as simple as a small cloud,or something on the lens.
