only a few more days until Ison disappears below the horizon in the early hours of the morning in the UK and we won't see it again until mid December assuming it survives its loop around the sun

Glad i got to see it in that case. Not the most spectacular image in a simple set of 10x50 bins, but at least i managed to eyeball it. I'll have a go with the 8SE over the next few days even if it means an early start. Not sure if the weather is going to play ball though.

Sorry,scrap that last comment. I dont have the view from home towards the east like i did from my hotel to spot it with anything let alone the 8se. Its only about 14 degrees above the horizon. All i see that low down from home is trees.
