Telescope Insurance

Hi All,

Does anyone know any companies that do telescope insurance?

I assume theft will be covered under the household insurance but what about when you are out in the field (sometimes literally!)

Check with your House Insurance company ( I use Halifax / BoS)  Im sure most personal possesions are insured for away from home, like laptops, but they may need a special mention if the item is above a certain expenditure?

For anyone else in the same situation, make sure your scope is a named item on your home insurance if it is expensive (in my case anything over £1000) and then the scope is covered under household insurance (temporary removal form home).

I am with Prudential and have added extra insurance for 'optical equipment', however, household insurance usually covers, including 'out in the field', check with your insurance provider.

I'm with NFU Mutual, they even covered my son's Canon 5D Mk 3 at Uni. Only individual Items over £1000 taken away from home need to be identified separately. Even stuff in your outbuildings is covered.

Same with Aviva.  "Personal possessions away from the home" was a very cheap add-on to a home contents policy.
