Yep, some nights it seems that the Astronomy gods are against us

I have 3 bricks recessed into the ground with small indentations chipped into them so the pointy ends of my tripod legs go back into them. That way I know it's back where it was. It also stops the legs from moving.

The only time I move my mount is when I take it to Astro camp. Then when I get back home it goes back onto the bricks at again.

good idea, i found this video handy and ill be doing it this way next time, may have to wait up till 2am but IT WILL BE DONE!  couldnt leave it out all night tho as people round here are light fingered. also you can see my back garden from the road.  i have fields behind me aswell so ppl walkin there dogs can see into my garden.  maybe a wooden box i can pop over it at night or something to take the attention away, im not sure yet. once i got this polar sorted ill get my videos up. its like xmas lol

Ant, just a few cheap simple ideas for you to consider so you can leave your mount set up without Burglars seeing your gear.

A small rollback. You could have locks attached to the concrete inside so no-one can roll it back.:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pusJd8QxGSk

You could make a simple smaller version of one of these tilt back models and take the scope off: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDe8NS3d6qY

Or you can make a tiny Roll-Off-Roof Obs like my old one (yes, this is mine): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NcQ-ma_WN6w
