Woke up early Thursday morning to a clear sky so quickly got the 8" Dobsonian out.

Jupiter was very high in the sky and very bright and by chance the GRS was on view, my scope was not fully cooled but still a nice amount of detail was seen.

Also had a quick look at Mars - the phase and white polar cap was easy and a large thin dark patch could just be seen - it turned out to be Syrtis major - not worth drawing yet though.

Here's Jupiter  - Orion Optics 8" F/6 Newtonian, x180, seeing AIII, 5:30UT .....
