Replacement for 12v cigarette lighter plug

I want to cut the lighter plug off the end of my mount power lead and attach the lead directly to the terminals of my battery box. I'd like to keep it fused (currently 5amp fast blow 30mm glass fuse in the plug).

Has anyone else done this; how did you keep the fuse?

you could buy an inline fuse holder, they used to be fitted to car radio`s, but i would still have the lead removable

I was planning to be able to remove the lead from both the mount and the battery box terminals anyway, but why do you say keep it removable, out of interest?

just think its a good idea to be able to remove the lead, say if carrying the battery pack, stops it getting under foot and being ripped out, i guess i dont like leads being permanent
