NGC6960 Witches Broom

Recommended Posts

I completely forgot this one! I imaged this last year with limited success but feeling more pleased with this effort taken a few nights ago.

Normal kit: 150P, HEQ5 and 30D. 300s subs with darks etc.

As always any comments welcome

Thanks

Jamie

Very nice. I'd never noticed before that it appears to sit right on the edge of a band of stars, so (in your image) the upper half is far less densely populated than the lower half.

James

Yes I see what you mean. That area and below are towards the centre of the full Cygnus loop and you can see some feint nebulosity there too (lower left especially) Hoping to complete a full mosaic of the loop in the near future.

Cheers

Very nice capture Jamie I did this one last year as well its a faint target but on a good clear dark night you can get quite a bit out of it. Have you tried reducing the star field a little bit in PS it would help to make the broom stand out a bit better.

Select stars with colour select highlights expand by 2 feather by 2 then-filter minimum - fade minimum or just take a look at my tutorial..
