Good stuff Tony

Do you resize the avi in Virtualdub? I've tried to do this in the past but Registrax bombed out part way through the initial alignment and I gave up after a couple of attempts.

Thanks,

Ian

Hi Ian,

If I'm going for detail, I usually pre-process it in VirtualDub as follows:-

Apply a filter for resizing - in this case 150% using Lanczos

If I'm concentrating on a specific area then I'll also use cropping to reduce the resultant avi filesize (and the amount of work that Registax needs to do!)

Then I go through each frame an take out any really bad frames (entire sections of bad seeing)

Then save the resized/cropped/cleaned avi for processing with Registax

I haven't had any issues with Regi in processing avi's of around 1.5Gb in size although I have had similar problems as yourself before. I'm using a totally new laptop/software setup now that's a lot more powerful (core duo T2250 and 2Gb RAM)

I seem to recall a thread somewhere on on this particular problem, I'll see if I can find it and post the link.

Tony
