Nova Del - emission lines fired up !

Recommended Posts

A quickie below from tonight in twilight shows the 'rising' emission lines. Could it be that the continuum is decreasing as the nova fades?

But still managed to falls over a flowerpot on the patio in the half-light dropping my aging Acer which survived! I did less well with a blumming cut knee and hand - to post it here. Dangerous stuff this astro

It was nice to see your spectra of Nova Delphinus. I made an attempt on 19/8/13 and got similar results using a star analyser. I haven't used it for a long time so it was nice to compare your results with mine. I seem to have a lot of noise but the general shape seems to compare. novadelR131.bmp

I've managed to get a couple of nights imaging nova Del 2013. Here's my result from the 20th of August using my trusty star analyser. I've also managed to get out on the 22nd but clouds have prevented further observations. Saturdays forecast is looking good though. I did some photometry with my DSLR as well on the 20th recording a magnitude of 5.62 as a mean from 10 exposures. This is so exciting! I am really enjoying seeing spectra recorded by other amatuers . Lots to learn. Great stuff!

Cheers

Steve.
