lukebl
Hi all,I haven't done any nocturnal imaging for months, so here's the result of my annual pilgrimmage to Pluto. I always like to capture it once a year. In my youth this was always an almost magical object, way beyond the reach of my modest equipment. It currently only reaches an elevation of 17 degrees here in Sagittarius, so it was just skimming the hedges and skyglow. At that elevation, I suspect there would be no chance of seeing it visually here, even with a 20" dob, particularly with the miriad of stars of similar magnitude around it. Or has anyone here managed it? The bright star just lower left of Pluto is of 9.5 magnitude.A very quick mono capture of 8 x 60 second exposures, SXVF-H9, 250mm f/4.7 Newtonian. No darks or flats. There was a lot of gradient due to big light pollution at this elevation.
