Binoculars on a 3-way photo head?

How practical is to use binoculars on a 3-way photo head instead of a 2-way video head? I read that many people with large binoculars are using such a configuration.

You normally have to use the tilt mechanism back to front as they typically will only got 30 degrees up and 90 degrees down when used conventionally - apart from that It works quite well.. I have used my 22x100's on a manfrotto head...

I use one of those grip release type Manfrotto heads. Brilliant, and adds 5-6" in height, but stability is not hindered.
