TS "Expanse" Eyepieces?

Often wonder about these, but have seen no specific reference here? :)

Have heard of (Orion?) "Expanse" eyepieces - Are these they? These seem to owe a sizable NOD to Baader Hyperions - General construction, photo-thread - No "modularity" certainly... But frankly I rarely use that facility! Nice 2" adaptation idea. Same price etc.

Could they really offer e.g. "high off-axis sharpness" in F5 systems.

Always a subjective thing! But significantly better than Hyperions? ;)

I saw those and was interested myself. I haven't found any user reviews just some speculation that they were the same. Then I found this. http://www.cloudynights.com/ubbarchive/showflat.php/Cat/0/Number/1000594/page/231/view/collapsed/sb/5/o/all/fpart/1

the orion expanse appears to be the same as these http://www.teleskop-express.de/shop/product_info.php/info/p4923_TS-Ultra-Wide-Angle-Eyepiece-6mm---1-25----66----better-Coating.html

so it seems they are not the same. I haven't had any luck tracking down their alternative names perhaps our american friends would have a better idea. The likelihood is they are sold over there by another name

Thanks for the ALL the above posts.

I think they are probably a clone of the Vixen LVWs - the Baader Hyperions are also a clone of the LVWs (and not as good as).

I suspect the above not an unreasonable assumption / conclusion! Interesting looking tho'. ;)

THIS time they seem to have managed to create a "series look-alike clone" of the 22mm LVW. Something Baader were unable to do, with their "simpler" 21mm - Or maybe Baader simply knew their limitations? :p

Am currently down to ONE Hyperion, plus the Aspheric - If I were to change allegiance? Or maybe

I should just follow the wisdom of my own experience... Similar prices meanz similar eyepieces... :)

When they first came out I considered getting these, later I read about two people returning them (German, http://forum.astrono..._TS_Expanse_Oku use Google translate for example). No idea if the quality is better now...

I like the use of the phrase "a Monday model" - because in British English this translates to "a Friday Afternoon Job"
