June 3, 2013: Nice proms showing this evening

I just set up the LS35 outside and managed to have a short look at the sun (between clouds). On the western limb there is a large filament arcing across the surface, and when it crosses the limb, it shows up as a very nice prominence. I have seen similar configurations before, and they really give a 3D feeling to the view. Several other, smaller proms are showing, along with some really nice surface detail around some large sunspots. Well worth a quick look if you can

I noticed the same thing this morning Michael, and you're quite right about the 3D feel of it. There's a lot of detail to be seen around some of the ARs with a little concentration too.
