This was taken on 15/10/2011 using a 300mm f6 newt, 5mm ortho and canon G9 (640x480@30fps) R5 and image analyzer.

That is one of the best (if not the best) afocal planetary image I have seen. Very nicely done!

Thanks for the comments, I do have a DFK 618 michael and my experience so far has been it would need a night of great seeing to get the benefit from the DFK with Jupiter, although a mono camera would likely be better than my one shot colour DFK. I do struggle a bit more with Saturn using afocal, too dim to get a big enough image scale especially this year.

In a scope like that a DFK should be able to outperform that afocal shot, brilliant though it is. My efforts with a humble SPC900 in an 8" scope include this one:

and with an ASI130MM (less sensitive than your DFK) got me this

I am hoping the DFK will come good; problem has been getting a decent night. This shot is from my DFK with the same scope. There’s lots of detail in your ASI130MM Jupiter, was that with your C8 scope.
