My first DSLR & Guided image

Hi all, this is my first image taken with my new 300D & also my first guided image.

M45 nebula.

1x5min dark, 8x5min lights, taken with ED80 pro, 300D, & guided on HEQ5 pro with WO66SD + DSI +PHD.

Clear skies

Ayeup, pretty good for your first! :shock: What ISO were you shotting at? Also, I`d recommend taking a few more dark frames so they can be averaged out

That is a mighty good effort Brett. You will get some good advice on how to improve I am sure.

Steve has made a great improvement, as you can see. I personally can't advise any tweaks, but stand by, there are many experts on SGL,

and they are a lot better than books.

Thanks Steve i dont mind at all, how many darks would you say i needed?

Ron, i used ISO 800 on the dark frame & lights.

The image looks loads better on deepsky stacker, but i had to resize the image & post in jpeg, so i guess

thats why the image lost alot of detail it was a very big file

Had a quick play around in PS, with levels and black point to decrease the background noise.

Brett, if you can reprocess the original tiff or raw file i'm sure you've got alot more detail in there!

Hi Kevin, thats cool

The original image after processing on DSS as loads of detail, but i guess when it gets processed & posted in jpeg it looses a fair bit
