Solar imaging with DSLR - alignment issues

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

I have been searching the internet for some answers, but am not really coming out with anything. Tonight, I took 150 frames with my Canon 400D attached to the 130p. Tracking is awful, so the sun moves around the frame quite a bit. However, it is generally centred, taking up about 1/3 the width of the frame.

I have been trying, and failing miserably, at getting the images aligned in RegiStax 6. I have tried using centre of gravity only (which seems to work best but not perfect), default with scan frames, lowest value with scan frames, and a combination of centre of gravity and default.

Nothing seems to be getting the images aligned properly.

As you can probably tell, I am pretty new to all of this!

Any pointers/tips?
