Skywatcher combined handset firmware

If I'm understanding it correctly, Skywatcher now have a combined handset firmware update (v3.35) http://www.skywatche...s1=1&class2=101

I have an Alt Az and an EQ handset that are v3.08 and v3.25 respectively. Has anyone flashed their handset to one of the latest combined versions? I'd be interested to hear how it went.

I've done it and you should have no problems. The handset will then automatically recognise the type of mount in use and select the correct star alignment procedure.

Thanks. I'll give it a go if I can find a PCM with an rs232 socket that still works!

I borrowed an old laptop from work and successfully updated the handset for my alt az grab n go. I tested it on Friday night and it worked fine. I hope to try the same on the HEQ5 as a clear night is forecast on Monday night.

Just do a dry run with the heq5 in doors or in the garage without an ota on, and lie about where the stars are, that should give you an idea if it works or not, but it will work i'm sure.
