16 bit help please

Hi, I recently started using an ATIK 16ic OSC and have been using ATIK Dawn to stack the images, after stacking I can save as a 8 bit Tif or a 16 bit Fit but not a 16 bit tif. Now the 8 bit Tif has colour but obviously limitations when stretching etc. in Photoshop however when I convert the 16 bit Fits to Tifs Photoshop displays them in grayscale even though the Histogram shows RGB. Any Ideas?

If you use the FITS Liberator plugin for PS you can load in 16bit FITS OSC images but you have to load the R, G and B channels in one at a time and then assemble them as a RGB image using 'Channels'. The channels are called 'planes' in Fits Liberator.

Problem is it is a One shot colour camera so I have no separate channel files just one output file.

All three colour images will be stored separately in the fits file. As Steve says, you have to output them from Fits Liberator individually and then combine them into a colour image in Photoshop.

OK, will have to try and get a grip on fits liberator.
