i have an 8" dobs and i fitted my camera to it just to see if i could take a wee pick but all i saw was the secondary mirror and the veins..i know im doing something wrong but what? i did focus in and out but made no diff

What kind of camera is it ? A DSLR or a point and shoot ? If it's a DSLR, if you can got the right ring adapter ( without the lens, at prime focus ), there shouldn't be any problem. If you got a point and shoot, you will need an eyepiece, and take your shot through it ( Like so ).

Above what camera do you have ?,what focuser is fitted to the scope' am sure that if it was a dso then you will not stand a chance on the mount you have it may be ok for the moon but thats about it ? could you see the image on the live view ? A little more info you is needed me thinks .but to be fair a can not see you getting anything other than the moon pat

hmm..this is where im probably going wrong..its a bridge camera..fits in the focuser nicely but all i see is the mirror..i can take pics with my camera phone holding it against the EP but its hard..i guess i need to get a DSLR then?
