Looks like it will be both clear and (amazingly) relatively mild!! As a relative newcomer with a Travelscope 70 what shall I aim to see?

Hi Rob

The Travelscope 70 is a widefield scope, so by nature and design doesnt work very well with high magnifications. It works best for observing general starfields,clusters etc. Have a wander around and i'm sure you will come across some great sights. Do make an effort to see M44 (Beehive cluster) which is in Cancer. Beautiful object.

M44 for sure, M81 and M82 should be visible. Possibly some of the open clusters in Auriga while we can still see those. Double cluster is always good. Panstarrs if you havent got it already, and of course M31 right next to it.

Seen M44 quite often so will look for the others inc panstarrs.
