Xbox webcam on Windows 8

Has anyone else managed to get the Xbox Live Vision webcam running on Windows 8? I have two of them now and neither seem to work. I can't find drivers online either so I seem to be at an impass. I want to do webcam imaging but being as Microsoft cant keep an operating system going for more than 6 months it seems I may have to find an alternative.

Because the honest answer is - nothing.

Well

Technically not nothing, but if I had done everything properly in the first place I would have been fine.

The short version is -

Bought a xbox cam

Started modding it

In the modding process tried plugging it in to illuminate the LED's, but pulled the cable out before it had installed properly by accident,.

That cam stopped working

Bought a new one

Before I started modding, plugged it in to check it was working

Nothing came up but I tried using it in a capturing program, found it worked

Wondered if this would make my modded one work now

So basically, I was being a fool.
